My five favs: Accent chairs

This is the first of many “My five favs” posts. I see so many beautiful pieces of furniture and accent pieces on a daily basis, and I thought why not share them with you here? Following are my current five fav accent chairs that I am dying to use in the right room for the right client. I had a hard time narrowing it down to five, so I’m sure another post about accent chairs will pop up in the future.

There is nothing like a great accent chair to pull a room together and give it some personality. They come in all shapes and sizes, but the most important thing is to make sure the chair suits the style of the room. Whether it will be used only occasionally to sit by the fireplace while entertaining, or more often to read or watch television, this is definitely where you can have fun with shape, pattern and texture.

1 – With its small size and leggy design, this piece would look great in a condo. Its simple lines and slight curves makes it work in a modern or a transitional space.

2 – Here’s a neat textured twist on a slipper chair. The colour of the wicker would make it feel right at home in a beach house or a funky eclectic design.

3 – Talk about pattern and texture! This beauty is an art piece. It needs a large space, giving it ample room to breathe. It would make a great statement in a loft.

4 – I’m loving the lines of this cozy chair. It’s the perfect chair for curling up with a book, or putting your feet up on an ottoman to watch a movie.

5 – This is a sweet little Louis chair. The gloss black frame goes perfectly with this classic and the Ikat pattern makes it fun and modern. I see two of these flanking a buffet in a dining room, and they can easily be brought into a living room for extra seating.

These are just a few of my favourites. In another post I will go into what makes a great chair, and my process for finding the perfect chair for you.

I would love to know which of these five is your favourite. Please comment below!

As always, if you need a hand planning your space, I’d be happy to help!

  • The wicker chair would look great in our sun room, and armless chairs are great for musicians to play guitar. For me, a matching chaise lounge with a coordinating reading lamp, please.
