My Five Favs: Ways to add WOW

I don’t know about you, but I like having something a little unexpected and unique in my home. Following are 5 ways to get that extra WOW factor in your home.

1 – Custom Drapery
Dressing up your windows with colourful bold drapery adds drama to any room. Hanging them higher and wider than your windows will make your room appear taller and the windows appear wider.

2 – Wallpaper/Large Art
Nothing adds depth to a space like wallpaper or an oversized piece of art. Wallpaper has the ability to make a space seem special. I love using them at the end of a hallway or behind a bed.

3 – Gallery Wall
A curated gallery wall adds instant personalization to a space. My personal favourite is using a mix of photos, prints and originals, creating a look that is truly unique to the owner. Mismatched frames and a loose arrangements makes it easier to add to the wall in the future.

4 – Molding
Custom millwork adds class and sophistication to any home. Flat walls come to life when molding is applied and it also gives you a lot more options on where to start and stop paint colours.

5 – Dark Paint
Black and navy are huge right now for adding impact and contrast. You can paint an entire room a dark hue, one accent wall or simply all of your doors. A common myth is that dark colours make a room look smaller, when in fact it can make shadows disappear in the corners of a room, making it appear larger than it is.
