So, yes, that happened. My dear brother sat on our sofa and crack! I wasn’t really too upset. I think I may have smiled a bit when it happened, after I found out said brother was okay of course. That sofa didn’t owe us anything. It was inexpensive and it “lasted” about 8 years. That being said, we weren’t quite ready to invest in a quality piece… so we got out a few stacks of paper and voila! Sometimes quality is worth the wait. I wanted our next sofa to last us a long time. It’s the only sofa in our house, so it needs to be a work horse.
When we were ready, we decided on this baby in an indigo blue nubbly fabric. We chose this one not only because it is very pretty, but also because it is made of kiln dried hard wood. That will prevent its frame from warping and keep it going strong for much longer than 8 years. They also completely wrap the frame, covering all the hard edges. We want our kids (and brothers) to be able to flop down without risk :)
It’s crazy comfortable too! They use a web and coil construction, and each cushion is filled with high density foam that is wrapped in a layer of dacron. The dacron will help the cushions retain their shape over time, something our current sofa cushions lacked. This guy needs to be comfy enough for binge-watching Netflix and stylish enough for entertaining friends and family. I can’t wait to get it! I’ll certainly be sharing some after pictures!
Have you ever decided to wait a bit until you can afford to a higher quality piece?
